My Skin Care Routine

Having great skin is not simply a matter of DNA. It depends on your daily habits, what you eat, drink, smoke, sun exposure, the list is endless. Also working out your skin type, believe it or not there are five types of healthy skin: normal, dry, oily, combination (both oily & dry skin) and senstive.

Remember science has come along way when it comes to skin-care products by there are still no such things as an instant fix. If you are using a product for the first time you need to use it for at least six weeks, once or twice a day to notice a difference.

One of the things I would highly recommend is drink plenty of water. I really do believe that hydrating the skin really helps in its appearance and texture.

Moisturisers

Clinique – Smart SPF 15

Before I go to bed I use this product. As I have said before, I like to feel that my skin is absorbing the cream rather than just sitting on top.  I starting using Smart SPF 15 when I turned 40 and felt that my skin needed a little more moisture. I have also found that this product works great for my skin type.

Clarins – Beauty Flash Balm

You can use this product as a daily moisturiser or when time is of the essence.  When applied underneath your makeup, the beauty flash balm absorbs quickly allowing a quick turn around for your night out, yet still feeling you have moisturised.

Clarins – Double Serum

I absolutely love this product!! I apply double serum always during my morning routine. A small amount is all you need.  A great tip that I learnt from a friend is to add a pea size of the Beauty Flash Balm to the serum and mix it with your hands, then apply.  Straight away your skin feels hydrated and actually looks more radiant and fresh. You need to try it and see for yourself, this one is a winner for me.

Daily Skin Cleansing

Dermalogica – Special Cleansing Gel

For many years I have used the same product removing make-up and cleansing my face.  As your skin goes through changes, hormonal, breakouts etc…… quite often we need to adapt our products to our skin type. Having said that though, this is one product I have not changed since my youth.  With the special cleansing gel, you only need to use a little, add some water which lathers up like a soap. When applying this combination to my face, I feel that it is cleaning my skin rather than leaving any residue on it.

The Dermalogica range does have cleansing gels for all skin types, whether it be normal/combination or oily. Two of my children have suffered from blocked pores/acne and I have found that the medibac products really works well for their skin type.
